Drivers Education for Teens
The 38 hour drivers education course is for ages 14 years & 9 months through 17 years of age. This course runs 4 days in summer or 5 during the school year. Behind-the-wheel instruction (8 hours) is scheduled after the classroom portion is completed.
Summer: 4 days | Mon-Wed 8-4:30 & Thurs 8-2:30
School Year: 5 days | Sat-Sun 8-4:30 & Mon-Wed 4:30-9:30

The 38 hour course for teens is $500. You can pay in full or pay a $125 deposit to book.
The 14 hour adult course is $400. You can pay in full or pay a $50 deposit to book. -
You have the option to pay in full or pay a deposit to reserve your spot. The teen course deposit is $125 and the adult course deposit is $50.

No, You do not have to have paypal to sign up online. When you are at the payment screen, look under where it says “paypal login” and there is an option to “pay with a debit or credit card”. Click on that option and it will allow you to pay without a paypal account.

Your teen can take the classroom portion at 14 years and 9 months and must wait until 15 for the behind-the-wheel instruction. The adult class is for ages 18 & up.

At least 2 days before the class, please bring us the following documents: Original Birth Certificate, Custodial Paperwork (if applicable), Custodial Parent’s Identification Card, and Temporary Identification Permit (tip card) obtained at the DMV. See below for more tip card info

All applicants must apply to the Office of Motor Vehicles for a class E Temporary Instructional Permit (TIP) prior to participation in the knowledge test, operation of a motor vehicle during on-road driving skills instruction, or participation in the on-road driving skills test. The TIP allows a driver education student to operate a motor vehicle when accompanied by a driver education instructor and when completing behind the wheel instruction or during the administration of a skills test.

When you go to the DMV to obtain your TIP card, please bring the following:
Certified birth certificate
Verification of your Social Security Number is required
Proof of Address
A custodial parent or legal guardian must be present to sign the application.
The parent must present identification and the legal guardian must also present legal documentation verifying the guardianship.
Photocopies of documents are NOT accepted

There is no additional cost to convert from the TIP to a Learner’s Permit or a Full License.

After classroom and on-road instruction are both completed, we will give you a sealed envelope with a completion certificate inside. The envelope must not be opened or the DMV will required you to return to our school to have it resealed. Bring the envelope to the DMV along with the same documentation you brought for your TIP card. The DMV will convert your TIP card to a Learners Permit (under 18) or Drivers Liicense (over 18).

Age 15 -Maintain learner’s permit for a minimum of 180 days AND until they reach the age of 16 when they may apply for an intermediate license.
Age 16- Maintain learner’s permit for a minimum of 180 days OR until they reach the age of 17 when they may apply for an intermediate or full license.
Age 17- Eligible for either a learner’s permit or a full license. To obtain a full license, vision, knowledge and road skills tests must be successfully completed.

The Road Skills test must be successfully completed before the issuance of a license. This test is administered by the DMV or by Shut up and Drive. The Road Skills test costs $50 cash and be scheduled with out office by calling 318-445-3237

On 8 hour class days, there is a 30 minute lunch break. Students may bring their own lunch, purchase lunch at the restaurant next door, or utilize a food delivery service. Students each lunch in the classroom unless they are signed out by a parent during lunch break.
